Thankyou for what you have written. To me this just causes panic to the innocent people browsing the net and come across it. No man or woman on our planet are bigger or greater the our lord GOD. Only GOD can judge me so let him decide when the world will end. I remember 1999 going into 2000 and people saying the world will end. Its not a nice subject when you have small children.

This article lays out what many of us have been thinking and worrying over for years- the lack of sustainable thinking is killing out country and others like us. The debacle of health care reform is rightly pointed out- didn't this all go into high gear with the 'me' generation- I've got mine, too bad for you? Your essay "Consciousness and Complexity" caught my attention and led me to your followup. Kudos on your nicely evolved perspective, I hadn't been aware of your existence before.

I think you get about 90% of what you say entirely right, and I seldom get to say that to anyone. And inasmuch as I may be at least 6% wrong, please take that as high praise.

There are constraining reasons that the solar-microwave thing will not happen, although it is not technically or thermodynamically impossible. There are constraints upon emergent behavior which are not transgressed for deep structural reasons; no hurricane will ever cross the equator.

Still, what a refreshing set of essays. There are nice broad boundaries to your thinking. I won't be back this way, though I will bookmark it; feel free to email me if you like, I may be working on some projects in upcoming years which you'd resonate well with.

I loved your article. I watched a program about the charcoal-laden soil in the Amazon and became fascinated by it. I had also read in a Laura Ingalls Wilder book (autobiography), which was lovely in and of itself, about using ashes to mulch and fertilize fruit trees.

I too live in Oceanside, and the soil here is composed of sandy clay. Much of our city sits on an ancient lagoon bed, so growing anything is a challenge.

I enjoyed reading this article and am looking forward to more.
